Black Forest Highlights

Welcome to Germany! We recommend a morning arrival. Collect your luggage, pick up your rental car and begin your journey to Freiburg im Breisgau. Freiburg is the most southern city in Germany. Its landmarks are the old town, the impressive cathedral and the unique “Bächle”. Spend your first day in Germany at your leisure.

Overnight in Freiburg

Start the day with a guided tour of the Freiburg farmer’s market. Every day but Sunday, the popular farmer’s market takes place in front of the cathedral. You’ll be enticed by the large selection of food and impressive compositions of colors and smells. Look forward to learning about and tasting fresh products from around 100 regional direct producers. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Today is dedicated to the Black Forest! During a full-day tour, your guide will show you traditional Black Forest farmhouses and the stunning countryside while pointing out the history and the landscape along the scenic drive. Stop at the open-air museum “Vogtsbauernhof” to experience how farmers and craftsmen lived over the past 400 years in the Black Forest. Continue to the village of Triberg for lunch. The tour will end in Freiburg in the late afternoon.

Next, you’ll journey onward to the resort village of Tittisee-Neustadt, where you’ll have time for shopping at your own pace. In the afternoon, you’ll experience more Black Forest scenery during a relaxed two-hour walk around Lake Titisee, including a stop en route to taste the most delicious Black Forest cake. Afterward, you’ll depart for Lindau.

Lindau is a small island in Lake Constance, Germany. Today, you’ll enjoy a guided walk of Lindau in the afternoon. You’ll learn why the lighthouse has a clock, what the colorful painting on the city’s Old Town Hall symbolizes and which exotic trees grow here.

Munich is known as the gateway to the Bavarian Alps, and known worldwide for Oktoberfest. Get to know this fascinating city on your guided city walk where you’ll see Marienplatz Square and the famous Glockenspiel, as well as Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady), and the Viktualienmarkt food market.

Explore the city further on your own.

Today is free for you to continue exploring Munich and its surroundings. There are several day tour options available including trips to Neuschwanstein Castle, or to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. You can also join a Bavarian Beer and Food Tour.
